I grew up with a mother who was an extraordinary home cook and baker. She collected magazines with detailed recipes like Cook's Illustrated, Martha Stewart Living and Savuer. We had an entire bookcase shelf or two dedicated to Saveur alone. Each issue was numbered with the subject matter printed on the spine for easy identification when you wanted to cook something specific like Southern Barbeque or Spanish Paella.
I recall reading these magazines while sitting on a folding step stool in the middle of my mom's linoleum floored kitchen at the very same wheeled metal cart that I use every Friday when I produce aMYLK at my commercial kitchen.
So, when I learned two weeks ago that aMYLK had been featured in Saveur as one of Portland's Top 12 Culinary Souvenirs, I nearly cried with joy. How full circle is this sweet story? I can honestly feel the tears welling up in my eyes once again. Life is truly magical and apparently, I am an amazing manifestor. Hahaha. Yay!
