I founded aMYLK on the principal that food is medicine. When I created aMYLK in 2016, I had been struggling for almost 8 years with mystery illnesses and autoimmune responses that I couldn't find answers for. In my heart, I knew that my body could heal itself, so I set out on a journey to create the cleanest plant-based mylks possible and I added superfoods and healing adaptogens made from plants. My journey has led me here, almost 10 years later and I'm still seeking. I'm still learning. I'm still working on myself and on living my happiest, healthiest, most joyful life.
One of my greatest joys is finding new, authentic, functional products made by individuals or companies that uphold values similar to mine and which I believe hold healing potential for myself and for my customers. Every product that I try gets passed through my values of sustainability, stewardship, quality, integrity and purity.
I'm banking the future of aMYLK (and of me) on being a purveyor of not just the world's best plant-based mylks, but also of products and experiences that I believe have the potential to transform human and environmental health and well-being. I've got a new product available this weekend for pre-order that I'm excited about. While aMYLK produces only plant-based foods in house, I incorporate sustainable, humanely raised and processed animal products in my personal lifestyle at home. One such product is ghee. I'm a big fan of independent women producers and I first learned about the products created by Belly of the Sun several years ago.
Ghee is an ancestral food product that is perfectly balanced in cholesterol, stable saturated fats and fat soluble vitamins which protect neurons, promote cognitive health and support memory and mood. Simply stated, our bodies need fat and this is supported with the new food pyramid that just came out at the time of this writing. The removal of lactose and casein makes ghee a wonderful alternative for people sensitive, or intolerant to dairy and that makes it a product that fits in well with the other products we carry at aMYLK.
